Twerking Girls Rarely Make History

I know the controversy surrounding Miley Cyrus's performance at the VMA's has died down, but I think there is a lesson to be learned here, especially for us women. My friend, Lynnette Ramirez, says it best in her blog, "[Miley Cyrus]  felt inauthentic, lost and sadly using her sexuality to make no statement other than look at my body post Disney days. The danger in Miley’s performance is that there are a lot of females still trying to find themselves just like her that are expressing themselves the very same way on Instagram daily, tongues out of their mouths and too many body parts revealed for no good reason other than to say you don’t have to respect me, you just have to want to F#@& me!"  Ladies, let's always present as our most authentic selves, women who have tons of self respect and self worth. No need to behave badly, it's just so unattractive!
